Inexpensive compact cameras do not come with an Electronic View Finder or EVF but the SX50HS has one. It is quite handy for scenes in bright sunlight where it is difficult to see the camera view image due to the glare of the sun. It is also useful when following or tracking an object and may be more steady than watching the LCD display.
To switch from EVF to LCD screen display view, press the DISP button ONCE or TWICE, at the lower part of the right side back of the camera.
