Silver Dollar Fish

My engineer brother's silver dollar aquarrium fish is very large, around 1.5 feet long. This fish is a relative of the pacu and the dangerous piranha. The fish has already gobbled two or three hammerhead fishes and even killed a fellow but smaller silverdollar fish just by butting its head on the body of the poor victim. It now shares a large aquarium with an oscar pet fish which suffered lacerations at its mouth perhaps when they were feeding.

House sparrows

Common house sparrows seems to be active in mating this time of the year. You will find them trying to find mates and building nests. These mayas were photographed in Bgy. Central, Quezon City.

Cannot use EVF due to being shortsighted or farsighted?

The EVF of the Canon SX50HS camera may be unfocused when bought from the store. The camera clerk may help you with this problem, but if you bought it from an online store, there is a simple fix. To the left side of the EVF is a diopter adjustment wheel. Rotate it upwards or downwards until the eye is comfortable with the sharpest displayed finder image.

Switching between EVF(electronic view finder) and LCD display.

Inexpensive compact cameras do not come with an Electronic View Finder or EVF but the SX50HS has one. It is quite handy for scenes in bright sunlight where it is difficult to see the camera view image due to the glare of the sun. It is also useful when following or tracking an object and may be more steady than watching the LCD display. To switch from EVF to LCD screen display view, press the DISP button ONCE or TWICE, at the lower part of the right side back of the camera.

Fisheye effect in CanonSX50HS camera

This manipulates the image after it is taken so as to make it look like a fisheye lens was used. Here is a sample image:
. To make this kind of scene, turn the shooting mode dial on top of the camera to Filters mode with the Shooting Mode Dial, push the FUNC SET central button and select Fish-eye Effect. I think you can transform you images using an external software. Can Gimp do post image processing by using a fisheye transformation?
